The Groovy ScoutHERS camp

What is The Groovy ScoutHERS camp?
2023 marks fifty years that girls have been in scouting, starting with Venturer and Rover sections in 1973. To celebrate fifty years of girls, scouting and adventure, we are hosting a camp focussed on girls and adventurous activities at Camp Cottermouth. We have planned an action-packed two days and invite all members of Scouts and Girl Guides to participate.
Unfortunately we needed to defer this camp from 2-3 Dec 2023 to a date to be set in 2024.
Camping
Attendees will be camping at Camp Cottermouth and will need to bring their own tent and equipment, mess kit. Some limited cabin accommodation is available through approval with the organisers.

Activities
There are plenty of adventurous activities you can join on the weekend including:
- Abseiling – rock
- Archery
- 4WD & reversing
- Geocaching/rogaining/bushwalking
- Mountain Biking
- Pioneering
- Survival Skills
On Saturday and Sunday attendees will participate in their preferences of the above activities. Attendees will do four of the six activities offered.
There is also an optional Zumba class by MLA Elizabth Lee, a Retro 1973 Dinner followed by your choice of a Groovy Disco and Trivia.
How can I help?
The Groovy Committee is seeking youth members, Leaders and Adult Helpers to assist with activities, welfare, cooking, as well as administration, setting up, and packing down.
We are also seeking Venturer Scouts or Rover Scouts interested in event planning and management to help deliver the event. This could be used toward a Special Interest Area badge.

How do register?
Registrations will open in 2024, but the exact date is yet to be set.
Registrations are to be done through Operoo on an individual basis. Direct invitations from Operoo will be sent to every female member of Scouts ACT. If you have not received a direct invitation and want to attend, please email below and we will add you (everyone is welcome!).
Costs
Attendee (bring your own tent) $65
Attendee with cabin (must be approved by organisers) $85
Activity Leader (Food fee) $30
